Empty stadiums, masked coaches, and an expanded playoff format made this a season to remember. The wild ride is almost over, but there’s still one game left: Super Bowl LV. The Buccaneers became just the fifth team in NFL history to win three straight road playoff games to make it to the Super Bowl, and in doing so will become the first team to play the big game at home. The Chiefs continued their dominance by blowing out the Bills and are looking to become the first team to win consecutive titles since the Patriots did it in 2003 and 2004. It’s the Bucs versus the Chiefs. Brady vs. Mahomes. The man who dominated the NFL for the past 20 years and the one most likely to dominate the next 20. Who wins this epic Super Bowl showdown?
Super Bowl 55 – Odds to Win:
Kansas City Chiefs -3 (-105) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers +3 (-115)
This year’s Farmers Insurance Open should provide excellent entertainment for bettors, with many of golf’s biggest names in attendance. Jon Rahm headlines the field, having won the tournament in 2017 and finishing 2nd in 2020. The best bang-for-your-buck is Jason Day, who’s won the tournament twice since 2015. Expect last years winner, Marc Leishman, to be competitive as well.
Farmers Insurance Open – To Win:
Jon Rahm (+650)
Rory Mcilroy (+800)
Xander Schauffele (+1100)
Marc Leishman (+3300)
Jason Day (+3500)
Is there any team hotter than the Montreal Canadiens? The Habs have yet to lose a game in regulation, and at 4-0-2 are currently battling with the Maple Leafs for the top spot in the North Division. In the West, the Golden Knights have similarly imposed their will against opponents, boasting the second-best goals differential in the NHL. In the Central and East Divisions, the Lightning and Capitals continue their winning ways, but the Blue Jackets and Penguins are right there with them. Keep an eye on the surging Bruins, who face a tough schedule this week.
NHL Game Lines – January 27th:
Chicago Blackhawks (+150) vs. Nashville Predators (-180)
Ottawa Senators (+135) vs. Vancouver Canucks (-160)
In the Western Conference, the Clippers and Jazz have been on fire, and their schedules only get easier this week. In the East, the Nets have gone 4-2 since acquiring James Harden, but they’ll need to keep the wins coming if they want to keep pace with the 76ers, Bucks, and Celtics. Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, and Kawhi Leonard are all making strong cases for MVP, but with LeBron James and Kevin Durant continuing to play out of their minds, it’s anyone’s race at this point in the season.
NBA Game Odds – January 27th:
Detroit Pistons +3 (-110) vs. Cleveland Cavaliers -3 (-110)
Sacramento Kings +1 (-110) vs. Orlando Magic -1 (-110)
Boston Celtics -3 (-110) vs. San Antonio Spurs +3 (-110)
Dallas Mavericks +4 (-110) vs. Utah Jazz -4 (-110)
With multiple games between ranked opponents on tap, we have a feeling the rankings will need updating by week’s end. While No. 1 Gonzaga and No. 2 Baylor are unlikely to lose this week, No. 3 Villanova, No. 4 Iowa, No. 6 Tennessee, and No. 9 Kansas will all take the court against other ranked teams, highlighted by a showdown between the latter on January 30th. Tennessee and Kansas have both struggled as of late, so a victory would go a long way in establishing them as true contenders. Which teams emerge victorious this week?
Novak Djokovic is looking to make it three in a row and nine overall when he takes the court at the 2021 Australian Open. The Serbian star has dominated the tournament since 2008 and is the odds on favorite to win again this year. He’ll face competition in the form of 2020 runner-up Dominic Thiem, past winner Rafael Nadal, as well as young up and comers like Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev. Can Djokovic pull off the three-peat for the second time in his career?
2021 Australian Open – To Win:
Novak Djokovic (+100)
Rafael Nadal (+500)
Daniil Medvedev (+500)
Dominic Thiem (+500)
Alexander Zverev (+1200)
Undefeated IBF World Super Middleweight Champion Caleb Plant puts his title on the line against former champion Caleb Truax on January 30th. Plant is on the verge of becoming boxing’s next must-watch attraction, having successfully defended his title twice. He’ll look to make it three in a row against Truax, who held the Super Middleweight title for less than six months back in 2018. This is one fight you do not want to miss.
Caleb Truax (+1410) vs. Caleb Plant (-3600)
